Contrary to popular belief that has spread with the growth of the India Pale Ale (IPA) and its colonial mythology, the British did not teach Indians how to drink. Indians have actually been making and drinking beer made with rice, millet, or maize for thousands of years.

Unfortunately, as a result of numerous foreign invasions, much of India’s written history—including any early recipes for a uniquely Indian beer—has been lost.
But it is from this understanding of history and a desire to provide a beer uniquely designed for Indians, that Cool India Brewing was born.
